Hello Blog Friends!
Some regular readers may notice that this week’s post is being published a bit late on Saturday. Last Thursday, a friend who works with computers and is very “tech savvy” picked up this laptop, along with the “new to me” one that was gifted to me a few weeks ago, in order to migrate all the files. Early this morning he brought back both laptops and told me that, unfortunately, the newer model would not support the older version of Microsoft that I had been using. Since virtually all my work involves Word, Excel and PowerPoint this posed quite a problem. I went to the App store to see how much the newer version cost, only to discover that one must buy it and then also pay a monthly subscription fee. So at the moment I’m at a bit of an impasse as I am not in a position to take on that added expense, and neither is Crosstalk Ministries.
It has already been a full day, as I was up early to get some gardening done and to do my Saturday Bake, before welcoming my Godsons and their Mum, Victoria, who were, quite unexpectedly joining me for lunch. Victoria had contacted me on Thursday to say they had been invited to a BBQ at the home of a couple who were involved as staff at Senior Youth Camp (SYC), of which Victoria was Director for a number of years. Apparently a bunch of the former staff had been invited and she, at first, had not planned to go as it is 7 years since she was involved but in the end the boys wanted to come and see me too, so I hurried around over the last couple of days and pulled together a lunch, that everyone enjoyed 😊.
This week I was very happy to receive the Liturgical Dance MP4 and so was able to add another important component to the resource package. As usual, there have also been a number of Office tasks, among them the preparation of the Networks template, as the Pentecost/Summer issue will be published in the coming week.
There have also been several visitors. Monday Miriam, one of our Day Camps Team Leaders, (and the person who edited the Liturgical Dance video😊) came to join me for High Tea. Tuesday I had an in-person Diocesan Council meeting at Cathedral Place so Jessica came to hold the fort with Thomason and had dinner while I was out at the meeting. It was quite a marathon, starting at 4pm with the Eucharist, followed by a business meeting that went on well past 7pm. EEK!. That night I only got home after 8pm and so ended up too tired to eat any dinner. Yesterday, the friend who had commissioned me to knit a baby gift came for afternoon coffee and scones and to pick up the finished pullover.
In between I managed to squeeze in the “Changing of the Decorations”, as you will see from his week’s photo gallery 😊.
Today’s guests only left half an hour ago, so after washing up the lunch dishes I grabbed this trusty old laptop to write this post. Tuesday evening I left a favourite summery dish for Jessica’s meal and thought I would share it with you here…
