Sunday Reflections- Pentecost 3

This morning, Wil and I we were blessed to enjoy a portion of our walk under the “umbrella” of church bells. I’ve mentioned before, my love of church bells and their special “call” which vibrates right through our bodies and souls, drawing us to church just as they have done for over a thousand
years. Not everyone, by any means, heeds the call in this post- Christian era but I would suggest that the hearts of both believers and non-believers are touched by the peal of the bells.
Thus, even though it is a wet and dreary Sunday, the memory of the bells has made this whole day very special.
Our Scripture focus today was based on Acts 15:1-35, part of our  current sermon series, exploring Paul’s adventures in Acts and some of the Epistles as the Gospel message went out first from Jerusalem and eventually to all the world.
“Mr Google” helped me find a map of Paul’s journeys from 35-45AD so I printed out a few copies and after retelling an abridged version of the passage (minus the references to circumcision!) on the felt board, our group had a super time personalising their maps and drawing faces on small rocks to represent Paul and Barnabas, the rocks then being guided along the paths of each route.

Following our Service the Children’s Ministry Core Team met, mostly to discuss needs for our upcoming DAY CAMP!!! Emmaus and St. Stephen’s Churches are joining together to host one of the 3 Training Day Camps at St. Stephen’s House and Pippa is the Coordinator. She reported that most things are in order, except for the urgent need for billets. With a double-size Training Team, finding billet homes for 6 or 7 Team Members is a challenge; hopefully two or three homes can be found over the next couple of weeks 😊
Joan very kindly drove me home through the pouring rain and soon Wil and I will need to venture out for our afternoon walk, ugh! Then later this afternoon I’ve lined up another Skype interview with one of the young people, from Ontario, who is applying for  Travelling Team.

Meanwhile I think it’s time to get down to preparing prayer letters for the Training Team Leaders…
