Hello Blog Friends!
Apologies for the late post. All week, I knew it would be hard to get it up by yesterday, although, as you will see, I did attempt to get a draft started at mid-week, starting on Wednesday afternoon!
Here is the post!
Regular readers may recall that I have, previously, written quite a bit about the election of a new Bishop for the Anglican Diocese of Montreal and the coming weekend rounds off a number of important occasions at which we have been marking high points in the process of transition. All of this to say, that, along with several hundred Anglicans, I will be spending a lot of time in our Cathedral from late Friday afternoon to Sunday evening.
Since last weekend, I have been trying to fit in as much Day Camps work as possible, so as not to fall behind. This evening, we will be holding our monthly DC committee meeting and that also means that my fellow members will be expecting up to date reports! Fortunately, I will have a good portion of tomorrow and Friday to continue beavering away at everything from a first draft of the 2026 Day Camp supply list, to sending out reminders of the deadline for content submissions for CTM’s quarterly newsletter. Of course, there are also small interruptions of texts and calls from people at the Synod Office regarding carpooling plans and Uber reservations for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as updates as to the exact time I need to arrive at the Cathedral on Friday evening. It can be difficult to stay in the Fay Camps and Office “flow” and not forget to make sure all the dates are correct in the newsletter, or that I have read the first draft of all 5 Lamb scripts. AGH!!!!!
Time now to grab a sandwich before the DC meeting, more tomorrow morning…
Hmm,,. Well, it is now almost 5pm on Thursday. It has been another very full day. Jillian and baby Clara came this morning so that I could pin the hem of the Matron of Honour dress, which she will be wearing at the wedding of her best friend, Syndi-Belle (not a Team Alumnus, but a Youth Camp Alumnus & regular Chef on the Day Camp Cook-Alongs!). Altering the dress is already on next week’s “to-do” list as the wedding is in just two weeks’ time. After they left, I answered a few emails, walked Thomason and did more office work until 2pm at which time Jessica came by with the very important BUTTONS for my new cardigan (see photo!). We had a cup of tea and I got the buttons sewn on as we chatted, being careful not to get any honey on the cardigan! After Jessica left, I had about half an hour for yet more work, resizing the photos for this post, then it was time to feed MrT and prep my own supper. And there are still several emails that must be answered before I close my laptop for today.
I’ll catch you tomorrow with a few more lines plus this week’s recipe…
Friday… After a brief check in with the office email, I am now about to begin a cooking frenzy, as I prep ahead for:- dinner tonight for myself (to eat very early before I leave the house) and for Tyler, packed lunch and snacks for myself, tomorrow and the equivalent wrapped and refrigerated for Eli, and some snacks and cold brew coffee for Victor, on Sunday!!
Here is the salad recipe that I’m making for tonight
BLT Panzanella

- ½ loaf of sourdough boule or ciabatta, cubed
- 6 slices thick-cut bacon, cut crosswise, into ½” pieces
- 3 medium tomatoes, diced large
- 3 large handfuls micro greens
Dressing:-
- ½ lemon, juiced
- Zest of ½ lemon
- 1 tsp. Dijon mustard
- Salt & pepper
- 3Tbsps. Olive oil
- 2 tsps. mayonnaise
Sauté the bacon until just crisp and remove to a plate, reserving 2tsps of the bacon fat for the dressing. Place the bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast under a broiler until lightly browned, transfer to a large salad bowl. Add tomatoes and cooked bacon. In a small jar, combine the reserved bacon fat with the olive oil and whisk in the lemon juice, zest, salt and pepper and mustard. Finally, whisk in the mayo, until a creamy dressing forms. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss well. Just before, serving toss with the micro-greens. Serves 3-4.
Coda- The “cooklng frenzy” came to a dramatic halt, around 11:30am, Friday, when the power went off and the street outside my house became a swarm of firefighters ,as some workers, paving the road had hit a gas line!! Some homes were evacuated but Thomason and I were able to stay, despite yellow :”danger” tape being tied across the lawns. In the afternoon I was allowed to take Thomason outside for a short walk, duckling under the tape to get down my front stairs. The power returned only 15 minutes before Tyter arrived to stay with Thomason and fortunately the block was reopened just in time for the Uber driver to pick me up. God’s Grace!
Yesterday, (at 715am) I carpooled downtown with some of the Synod Office staff and Bishop Mary very kindly drove me home at the end of a very long day! Thomason did well with our friend Eli, except for a tense half hour when they were accidentally locked out of the house, as Eli was going to walk him! Tyler was able to come to the rescue with a spare key that he and Jessica keep at their house. Whew!
This afternoon, it will be another Uber, coming to pick me up at 2:55 pm , with Jillian’s husband, Victor arriving at 2:45 to take on duty with M r. T.
Time to join online morning worship right now, “see” you next Saturday!
