Wednesday Words Cook-Along Season 9

Hello Blog Friends!

Time to pop in with another Wednesday Words.

On three successive Saturdays in March our Cook-Along families came together, once again, to enjoy another series. This time the theme was “Fast Foods”- a punny title around the Season of Lent (when we FAST) and FAST aka QUICK recipes .

For Episode 1, Chef Jessica shared her recipe for “Cheesy Crackers” a yummy recipe from Germany, for crackers specially to serve on top of a bowl of soup.These were a big hit with the small cooks who planned to serve them over Tomato soup!

For Episode 2, Chef Syndi-Belle shared her recipe for “Quick Oatmeal Cookies.” This recipe came with lots of optional add-ins and two households made two batches that very afternoon. One family took theirs’ to share with their Grandma and another hungry group of three little boys had to make a second batch because the first one was gobbled up right off the cookie sheet!

For Episode 3, Chef Michelle, from her home in the UK (with personal videographer, daughter, Maria) made some very tasty “Carrot Fritters with Tahini Dip”. Several of their family members “tested” the fritters right on the spot and rated them 10 out of 10!

All in all, it was a super Lenten activity! One Mum commented that she particularly enjoyed Michelle’s episode as her kitchen was just as chaotic as theirs’ (both households have several young people and pets, who joined in for that session!!) And another family had no carrots in the house that day but still participated, with little ones eagerly miming grating carrots with wooden blocks as box graters and even “tasting” the fritters that Michelle pretended to hand through the screen.
