Seasonal Changes

Those of you who are regular readers of this Blog, may be startled to open up the link this week and find a whole lot of CHANGES!!
It has certainly been a week full of changes around here!. From Sunday to Thursday I squeezed in every possible moment in order to complete all the changes to the “Advent and Christmas”decor.
On Thursday afternoon Jessica arrived to begin the revamping the Blog. First of all you will notice we have moved to a Seasonal (largely LITURGICALLY Seasonal) design. We are going to be adding a photo of “Lamb” but there was no time for that this week.
I do hope you will take the time to Comment on the changes. We had heard that the access to different documents and pages was awkward before so we really want something more “user-friendly”, and are working towards that goal.
I  like the new fonts but am worried about legibility, especially over in the “Labels” cloud. You will also find the audio in the You Tube Slide Show to be a bit wonky, we are aware of that problem and will work on it.
Otherwise you should find all the regular features, including the weekly Recipe! I am planning to include some of my Advent and Christmas favourites. Today I baked my first batch of Stöllen which is a regular Breakfast staple around here throughout the coming Season.
Speaking of Breakfast,  I thought I would share a delicious frittata which we had last week. It makes a great speedy breakfast or supper when one is busy with a lot of CHANGES!!!

Arugula Frittata
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Olive oil
  • 1 large clove of garlic, peeled and halved
  • 6 eggs
  • 4oz. grated Gouda cheese 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 bunch fresh arugula, rinsed and coarsely chopped.
Heat a 10inch cast iron skillet, add the olive oil and garlic and fry until the garlic is golden, remove and discard the garlic, add the arugula and cook until just wilted.
Beat the eggs with the salt and pepper, pour over arugula and cook over moderate heat, undisturbed, for 5-6 minutes, or until set. Sprinkle cheese over top and place under a preheated broiler  until cheese is melted. Cut in wedges and serve directly from skillet. Serves 3-4.
Sunday Coda…….          So now it is Sunday evening after a VERY long day!       Our Service this morning went well and I had an exhilarating  (read COLD!!!) bike ride there and back, followed by a quick lunch, a long walk with Wil and then my ride arrived to take me to the Induction Service.  Right now I only feel as if I’m just catching my breath and that it might take a few days to sift back through today and  to distill the essence of this particular Sabbath and what I learned from it.  At present, the one verse I’ve certainly taken from the Day is Luke 12:36, Nick noted that this verse, points us towards the coming Season, helps us in getting ready, opening the doors.
My heart quickens and excitement bubbles up inside as I open my “doors” for the Advent, just around the corner.  The sole reason for all  these CHANGES!
