I delayed writing this week’s post so that I could report on our Day Camp Committee Meeting, which took place on Monday evening.

Mandu in Hiding! |
Mandu is overjoyed that “we” are back working outside . This is the second day that I have moved the wicker furniture out and she just loves to sit hidden on the shelf under my table!. She likes to spy on the birds which does make me a bit nervous because she can be pretty speedy and I do not want her diving over the railing as she is a totally INDOOR cat!!
The Committee Meeting went well. We were delighted that Jill and Owen (age 3 weeks) were able to join us and there was much cooing and admiring of his big blue eyes and gorgeous mop of red hair!

The annual saga of Team Member Recruiting is now reaching the scary phase. We were very sad to lose a key applicant but Michael (a veteran of the past 2 Summers) suddenly received confirmation of acceptance into a Sports Journalism program and the orientation session coincides with the Retreat week and the first Week of Day Damps, so, sadly, he is out of the Team picture. Another potential has since dropped off too so we are back down to only 7 Team Members. I know that the Lord will send us just the exact number we need but, as always, I feel totally committed to turning over every stone on the “hunt’ for these very special volunteers.
The sermon at St. Stephen’s last Sunday included some interesting observations on the topic of “God’s Will’ for our lives. Jenna was speaking onActs 21:1-16, in which the Will of Paul is counter to the Will of the Community of Believers, both of whom believe that they are moving forward “in the Spirit”. Jenna postulated that, it is quite possible that God does not have any one particular “finite” plan for our lives but that, as long as we are constantly seeking to walk on the path He would have us follow, the outcome of events will be according to His Will. So, applying this hypothesis to my own life, there is a certain comfort in that, as long as I wholeheartedly offer myself as His servant, there will be a perfect provision of both Team Members and Host Churches in which the Teams can Minister to the children whom our Lord so dearly loves .
The Church Schedule is not complete either, but Jill encouraged me by pointing out that she recalled it contained many more post-it notes last year at this time. I’m hoping her memory is accurate! At last count we still need about 7 more host churches- 1 in the Montreal region, 2 in Eastern Ontario, 1 or 2 in the Regina area, and 2 in the Maritimes. If anyone reading this can make a suggestion PLEASE leave a comment or contact us via email or phone.
