The Coffeehouse
We had a super time last evening at the Day Camp Coffeehouse. Approximately 80 people came !!!!! There were a number of great performers, excellent refreshments and so much support from the members of First Filipino Baptist Church who so generously offered us a free space in which to hold the event.
Many thanks to Jillian, our Coordinator and to all the volunteers 😊
Here are some photos to give you a flavour of the evening…
And here is the usual weekly post

Happy All Saints Day!
Yes, this post is getting started on Friday (November 1st) since tomorrow is the Day Camp Coffeehouse Fundraiser and I’m expecting things to be a bit more manic than usual around here. (Is that possible in a household with a very large 10-month-old puppy 😊?) Actually I may even wait and post this on Sunday morning as I’m hoping to include some photos from the Coffeehouse.
Right now listening to one of my all time favourite hymns “For All the Saints”, sung by the St. Edmundsbury Cathedral Choir UK. This is my “go-to” hymn to sing while raking mountains of maple leaves as All Saints Day inevitably coincides with that annual task. Yesterday we had a heavy rainfall warning, which extended through last night and was succeeded by a wind warning. Currently the power keeps flashing off and on and the wind is gusting to 90kms so it is pretty certain that the last of the leaves will be whipped off the trees by this evening!!
Unfortunately I set overnight bread dough yesterday and am now super nervous that I will just have popped the loaves in the oven when we really lose power. The weather app is saying the winds will decrease to 60kms. By 1pm so hopefully it will be ok 😊
This week I set aside several blocks of time to work on the Creative Connection Chapter of the 2020 Program Manual. After listening to a whole bunch of worship songs I think I have settled on this one and so should be able to begin choreographing it next week. I’m also searching for ideas for one more “Connection” and so far have not found anything suitable; no doubt I shall need to invent it myself😊
As it is now noon and the bread dough need attention I’ll break off for a while…
The “while” ended up being more than 24 hours and so it is now 245pm Saturday and I’m taking a short space of time to catch up on emails before eating a ludicrously early supper and heading off to the Coffeehouse. Jillian wants to get there as close to 5pm as possible and it will take me quite a while to prepare the different hot drinks, especially as this is only the second time I have worked in the FFBCM kitchen. 😊
So once I’ve added this week’s recipe we will call this a wrap and I’ll add a final bit early tomorrow, hopefully with a bunch of photos!
One evening this week we enjoyed a dish of Italian Sausages with Linguine, it made a tasty fall comfort food supper so here goes…
Italian Sausage with Linguine
- 4 spicy Italian sausages cut into small chunks
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- ¼ cup white wine
- ½ cup sundried tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tsp. dried basil
- 1 tin diced tomatoes
- 10oz. Linguine
Heat the olive oil in a large sauté pan and cook the onion, garlic and sausage chunks for about 10 minutes, until the onions are soft and beginning to brown. Deglaze the pan with the white wine. Add the sundried tomatoes, basil and canned tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Meanwhile cook the Linguine until al dente. When the noodles are ready drain them and place in a large serving bowl. Top with the sausage mixture and serve immediately,
Serves 2-3.
I’m not that much of a internet reader to be honest but your blogs really nice, keep it up! I'll go ahead and bookmark your website to come back in the future. Many thanks
