Well I waited to post something until today because last evening we had our Fall Team Gathering.(you might want to check back later this week because I hope to add some of David’s Pictures 🙂)
It was just great to see a bunch of Team Members from last summer and a new prospect for next year!!.
A number of committee members also came and everyone enjoyed Jill’s encouraging talk based on Philippians Chapter 3.
I think all of us related to the experience of coming down from the “high” of summer ministry when we are fellowshipping with Christians 24/7 and are frequently separated from all our everyday stresses of school and work.
The encouraging thing about the passage is that it tells us the most important thing we need is not to just fill up our lives with “good works” but to, firstly, hold on to the unshakeable truth that Jesus loves us and cares for us….
“……..not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ-the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith,”
If we cling to that knowledge then we can face any difficulties of daily life confident that we are held in the palm of our Lord’s hand.
So “Back to School” and work do not have to be such daunting experiences if we continue to spend time in fellowship with the Lord.
At the Gathering we also enjoyed some great singing and a time of prayer.
The food was super, and plentiful !! We shared some notices about upcoming events, especially the Coffee House for which Josiah has made a very cool notice.
I told everyone about our having already received the applications for Slave Lake for Day Camps 2012. The current issue of the Anglican Planet has a front page article about last Summer’s Camps in Slave Lake. you can read about it here.
Alexander also reminded us that tonight is the monthly Crossroads Service at 7pm @ St. George’s Church and that they will be talking about “Thanksgiving”.
I trust that everyone left the Gathering feeling both Blessed and encouraged to continue in the Path on which God has set our feet.
Here is the recipe for the salad which was my contribution to the Supper!!
